民主与教育：一种评论

Re-Examining John Dewey^s Theory of Democracy and Education

杜威的民主观念属于典型的大众民主，与卢梭等人的民主观念一样，都缺乏现实性基础。在教育的社 会职能问题上，杜威的民主教育理论也相应地缺乏现实性。作为一种替代品，从实践概念的角度来规划的好社会 远景，有别于民主政治的理想。这样，各行业内的卓越标准是否得到了传播和更新，成为衡量社会文明程度的关 键；好社会不再以民主参与的程度为标志，转而强调实践传统的存续与发展。与杜威不同，这种关于好社会的远 景，要求一种有别于民主教育的新的教育主张。

As a typical type of mass democracy，John Dewey?s democracy theory is short of realistic foundation like Rousseau?s. As for the social function of education， Dewey?s theory on democracy and education is also possessed the same defection. As a substitute，a new vision for good society，based on the concept of praxis，is different from the ldea of political democratic society. It means that whether the out- standing criteria of different industries have been spread and updated is the key measurement of a good society .The indicator of this good society is not the degree of democratic participation but the llourishing of the tradition of practice . This new vision requires new education ideas different from democratic education.
