The development of world -class university requires abundant financial resources. Considering fundraising as a strategic task for university development， the core research-oriented universities of Association of American Universities （AAU） have launched various forms of fundraising activities and developed unique fundraising culture ever since their founding. The fundraising strategies of core research-oriented universities of AAU are summarized as follows: sticking to university ethics on the premise of rational knowledge; establishing specialized financing institutions and vigorously tapping alumni resources; recruiting professional teams to improve fundraising efficiency; establishing a comprehensive financing system to improve the transparency of fund use. These successful financing strategies provide useful references for research-oriented universities in China.
