Over the course of hundreds of years， the admission system of Canadian higher education institutions has reached its maturity stage. As for admission requirements， most of the institutions require high school diploma and the academic performance of the last two years. Generally speaking， this admission system takes ＂equality and diversity＂ as its ultimate goal. Each institution has autonomy over the management of admission affairs， and their admission procedures are program -based. Applicants may select institutions and specialties according to their personal preference and can still transfer between different programs or even institutions after being admitted. Various forms of financial support are available to qualified applicants. At present， the main issue of the system lies in equal access to higher education which is closely related to social justice.
