Re-thinking Internationalization of Higher Education in Latin America

本文探讨了高等教育国际化的概念，区分了竞争的国际化和团结的国际化，介绍了拉丁美洲国家两种国际化的活动。

Coping with the demands of internationalization on universities in recent two decades，connected with the newworld economic order，the traditional structures of higher education systems some countries have been transformed and a new wave of academic interactions has been produced under the name of internationalization. The aim of this paper is to comment on the internationalization of higher education in Latin America. To develop the topic，it starts by making some comments on the restricted and the comprehensive meaning of the term. It then discusses the context in which internationalization is taking place as part of the neoliberal globalization，academic capitalism and economic competitiveness. Within this context，two categories of internationalization are analyzed: competitive internationalization and solidary internationalization. The discussion about these two processes makes us re- think: what internationalization is for? And what kind of internationalization do we want?
