英文摘要 | During the past decades, a well一known overseas research university has established and optimized its tenure/promotion system. This has improved the university’s academic system,ensuring its maintenance of highrlevel academic staff,teaching and research, and its transition to a leading re- search university. The tenure/promotion system has positive influences on the university. Its characteristics include specific roles and responsibilities at the department,faculty and university levels,clear criteria and benchmarks for promotion, a well一established international peer review system, improved internal administrative procedures at the faculty and university levels,and respect for and proper handling of disciplinary differences. These advantages have implications for universities in mainland China. |
