英文摘要 | Based on the latest panel data of 7524 rural households in 25 provinces from CFPS, this paper uses simultaneous equations to examine how education can afifect rural poor households. The results show that education can effectively reduce the probability of households falling into poverty. Education has a larger effect on income for the group in relative poverty than for the group in absolute poverty. Government subsidies can also reduce the probability of poverty for households, but the effect is significantly smaUer than that of the education, which means that poor farmers are mostly affected by their capability. Low education level is a major obstacle for rural poor families’ poverty reduction. Therefore, the development-oriented poverty relief has fundamental advantages over the security-oriented one. |
