Power Capital and The Pattern of Family Educational Expenditure
This paper first constructs the quadrant chart of the H Lying Pinw ( the shape like lying Chinese Character w ) ， to model the influence of power capital on household educational expenditure in different allocation mechanism of educational resources. This paper then uses China Family Panel Studies data to test the “Lying Pin” hy_ pothesis empirically. The results show that the “Lying Pin” hypothesis is not supported but a “Lying Tu” （the shape like lying Chinese Character “凸’’） pattern is presented. This means the families endowed with higher power capital spend less on their children^ education in Chinese public education system， while the power capital has no impact in private tutoring system. The findings have both theoretical and practical value in understanding the family educational resources allocation and improving the education financial reform in China.
