英文摘要 | This research sought to determine the competencies demonstrated by excellent tutors in Chinese online tertiary-level English language education. The first phase of the research explored tutor and student perspectives using questionnaires and interviews with an attempted to identify any differences and points of convergence. Tutor and student views were generally aligned, but differed in emphasis. The second phase explored how the age, gender and the learning phase might impact their preferences for the competencies of tutors. The paper argued for the value of enquiring into student and tutor perspectives on web-based language teaching expertise, and concluded with implications for linking research and practice and for online tutor professional development. |
