New Trends in the U. S. Education Reform: Review on the U.S. Education Reform and National Security Report

强大的基础教育是美国强大的决定性基础。2012 年，美国外交关系委员会发布的《美国教育改革与国家安全》报告认为，中小学在培养年轻一代知识技能上很失败，给美国经济的增长、国家竞争力的提高、国家信息安全和民族性格发展带来前所未有的危机。报告特别建议进一步扩展"公共核心"教育标准，提供更好的教育选择，完善教育审计问责制度

The strong basic education is the foundation of a powerful United States. A Report of a CFR points out that the U.S. K-12schools fail to prepare the U.S. students with essential skills and knowledge. The failure of the U.S. schools to educate young Americans is putting the nation's economic growth and competitiveness, information security, physical security, and national character at risk. Given the situation of the U. S. basic education, the report recommends to expand the "Common Core" State Standards, make structural changes to provide students with better choices, and launch a"national security readiness audit" .
