美国大学校长群体特征的实证研究———基于履历背景的视角

Empirical Study on Characteristics of American University Presidents in the Perspective of Curriculum Vitae Background

本文运用美国教育理事会的相关调查数据和访谈资料，基于履历背景的视角，以自然特征、教育背景、学术背景、职业背景、任期特征等为主要指标，对美国大学校长的群体特征进行了实证研究。研究发现：美国大学校长以中老年男性白人为主；美国大学校长以拥有人文社科领域博士学位的教授为主；美国大学校长以外部流动为主，职业经历比较丰富。

Utilizing the related survey data about the American university presidents derived from American Council on Education, employing the background analysis of the curriculum vitae, taking natural features, educational background, academic background, professional background and the presidency term as the main indexes, this article conducts empirical analysis of the characteristics of America university presidents. The research shows that the presidents of American universities are mainly older, male and white, who are professors with PhD degrees in humanities and social science fields, and who are externally recruited and have abundant career experiences.
