英文摘要 | Through continuous quality assurance and a recent review of alternative assessment methods, findings in China have suggested that the semi-open-book (Open-A4) examination is more suitable than other methods in adult distance education. This method is effective in supporting and improving independent learning and collaborative learning, and promotes efficient use of knowledge. As an innovation by the Open University of China (OUC), the Open-A4 examination method will accelerate the social and academic validity of distance education. However, it should be realized that Open-A4 examination is an assessment mode with both its advantages and disadvantages. OUC System is an open education system different from other universities and colleges. It is necessary to sufficiently bring Open-A4 examination's advantages into play by accelerating the effectiveness of students' autonomous learning and cooperative learning with the help of teacher community in open and distance education system in China. This paper, through empirical research, surveys and interviews, presents the results from using the Open-A4 examination extensively in China over the past ten years. We discuss the training of teachers as well as the achieved quality of learning and student satisfaction, and also present the correlations found between the Open-A4 examination in China and the characteristics of open and distance education. |
