To Establish the Tourism Query System by Applying the Geographic Information System for the Southern Hakka Region in Taiwan

This research paper seeks to investigate the tourist attraction resources of the Hakka area, which is one people in Taiwan representing around 20% of populations of Taiwan. The study also establishes a complete database with a query system by applying the Geographic Information System to this system. The Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communication (MOTC), and The Council for Hakka Affairs (CHA) promote actively tourist attraction resources of Hakka areas. Both expect that the data can be shared through the Internet. The Geographic Information System is not only a system to show geographic graphics but also the best database to reduce the computer space in database. Nowadays, the applications of Geographic Information System in non-Hakka areas are much more than in Hakka areas. Therefore, to apply GIS to Hakka areas is of value to be advanced. The results are expected to promptly provide useful information for the tourists who travel in the southern Hakka region in Taiwan.
