英文摘要 | This article investigates the fundamental reason for the school layout adjustment in five provinces and autonomous regions in western China and analyzes the impact of the school layout adjustment on student academic achievement and school adaptability by applying multiple regression analysis. The results show that in townships which participated in the Basic Education in Western Areas Project (BEWAP) between 2004 and 2008, the number of closed teaching points in the given rural areas is relatively high; the average size of closed teaching points becomes smaller and smaller; and distances from closed teaching points to school are much farther. The school lay out adjustment has significant negative influence on student academic achievement and school adaptability; and students who were from teaching points have significantly lower academic achievement and poorer school adaptability than the non-transfer students. |
