紀錄片字幕翻譯需要在語言準確性與文化呈現之間進行審慎的權衡。本研究以三大翻譯策略（增譯、保留、轉化）及三大翻譯議題（精準性、文化表達、用字遣詞）來比較《水墨意境》兩種字幕版本的差異。研究結果顯示，第一種字幕版本採用較多次保留的翻譯策略，偏向直譯；第二種字幕版本則頻繁使用增譯、轉化，產出的譯文就文化表達層次更精確貼近目標語的表達、在用字遣詞方面更常使用中文成語。字幕版本二被認為較佳，因為保留了源語言的表達方式，同時在翻譯中選擇了優雅的措辭，更忠實達到介紹中華文化的原意。

Documentary subtitle translation requires careful negotiation between linguistic accuracy and cultural representation. This study compared two subtitle versions of A Brush with Wisdom with respect to three translation strategies (addition, preservation, transformation) and three translation issues (accuracy, cultural expression, wording). The results showed that Version One adopted preservation more often and preferred literal translation. Version Two frequently used strategies of addition and transformation, was more accurate in expressing the target culture, and it used Chinese idioms more often. Version Two was deemed better because it retained the expression in the source language while offering elegant word choice in the rendition, which faithfully served the purpose of introducing Chinese heritage.
