An Exploratory Study on Life Education by “Self-Awareness” as the Core
One of the important purposes of life education is to cultivate students’ awareness, internally aware of their physical and mental changes, externally aware of their relationship with others, family, society, nature, etc., and insight into the essence of things. From the perspective of traditional Chinese Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, the foundation and method of life education are “recognition of mind and nature” and “self-awareness”. The two are the relationship between “noumenon” and “function”. Instead of thinking as the center, the current method of philosophical thought as the core quality of life education cannot be completely coherent with other core qualities, and is insufficient. This article believes that the core literacy of life education centered on self-awareness should be constructed to make the basic theory of life education more complete. In addition, it introduces the selfawareness practice method as a method to cultivate awareness, and clarifies the importance of awareness in life education, for reference from all walks of life.
