英文摘要 | In order to facilitate interdisciplinary research and teaching, University of Wisconsin-Madison adopts cluster hiring to construct a campus-wide interdisciplinary cooperative network. Faculty are hired into clusters and placed into related departments with certain funds. The sound interdisciplinary cooperation among cluster faculty are guaranteed by the opening of an exclusive website, the implementation of management mechanism characterized by up-down on the one side and down-up on the other side, and the adoption of evaluation methods such as taking both disciplinary and interdisciplinary achievements into consideration and consolidating them into a final assessment. All these measures and traits are unfolded in this essay. It is the purpose of this essay to inspire administrative bodies in Chinese universities to attach importance to the non-public interdisciplinary teams and adopt measures to create favorable environment for them. At least, measures to change their situation of being lurking can be taken by universities. |
