美国的国际理解教育在20世纪80～90年代经历了激烈论争，其内容涉及国际理解教育的目标、出发点、价值观等问题，对美国国际理解教育的发展产生了深远影响。本文系统梳理论争的背景及主要内容，拟对我国的国际理解教育理论研究提供些许参考。

From 1980s to 1990s， the most radical controversy took place in American global education. It mainly dealt with the educational goal， roots and value， all of which played great role in the development of American global education. This paper aimed at showing the background and content of the radical controversy for some reference on international understanding education in China.
