The Community-based Correctional Education in China and the UK： the Ideas，Contents and Advices

Correctional education is one of the three major tasks of community-based correction in China. This study compares the Sino-British community-based correctional education in terms of education ideas， principles，contents and methods. Results show that China’s correctional education aims at reforming people， emphasizes on remolding of thoughts，and educates in different way according to different people，place and time. While the UK’s correctional education focuses on individualized and problem-oriented education. With the ideas of“Integrated Offender Management” and “Community Safety Partnership”，the correctional education in the UK has a closer connection with community. Besides，the UK’s education has offender assessment system， professional officers and staff and various education programs. According to the results，this study gives some advises for the development of Chinese community-based correctional education.
