作为与教育学博士共存的教育学科领域内的专业博士学位，美国教育博士长期以来存在价值与地位、存与废及解决自身问题途径的争论。这些争论有助于厘清教育博士的本质与使命，有助于促进教育学科内两种不同性质博士学位的独特定位与良性发展。

As a coexistence of professional doctorate with Ph.D. in Education in the same discipline，there has been endless debates on some basic issues of Ed.D. （Doctor of Education）in the U.S，which focus on three aspects：the value and status，survival or abolishing，and approaches on solving its problems. The debates help to clarify the essence and mission of Ed.D.，promote the particular orientation and well development of the two doctorates.
