英文摘要 | The goals of gifted education in rural areas are to ensure equal learning opportunities and promote excellence for talent development. Gifted education in rural schools is an essential issue that should be considered to provide gifted education services. The “Promoting PLACE in Rural Schools” project in the United States re-conceptualizes the gifted education service system through place-based education. By addressing challenges, exploring possibilities, and developing methods, the project fostered a place-conscious gifted education culture in rural areas. The project team identified gifted students by alternative assessments. Unique life experiences in rural areas were integrated in the language arts curriculum for the gifted rural learners’spirits along with where they lived by. Community belongingness was established to overcome stereotype threats and foster a growth mindset in order to elicit rural learners’ potential. The “Promoting PLACE in Rural Schools” project serves as an exemplary model for implementing gifted education in rural areas. |
