環景影像虛擬實境對於高中生英語口說之影響

Effects of Spherical Video-based Virtual Reality Approach on English-speaking Performance of EFL High School students

英語已被公認為全球的國際共通語言，但在缺乏英語練習的學習環境下，以英語為外語（English as Foreign Language, EFL）的學生卻少有機會練習口說。虛擬實境技術的普及，讓學生可以藉由科技的幫助，在情境中學習。本研究應用環景影像虛擬實境（Spherical Video-based Virtual Reality, SVVR），提供學生一個模擬真實情境的英語交流環境。為了檢驗研究方法的有效性，本研究將SVVR教學策略應用於英語會話課程訓練中。研究結果發現，學生的後測英語口說表現顯著提升，且從訪談中亦了解學生對於SVVR教學策略的看法。

English has been recognized as a means of communication in the globe. However, owing to the lack of realistic English practicing contexts, EFL (English as Foreign Language) students generally have few opportunities to communicate with people in English. In this paper, a Spherical Video-Based Virtual Reality (SVVR) environment is developed to situate students in authentic English oral contexts. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, this study applied the SVVR approach in English conversation course. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in the students’ English-speaking performance post-test, and the interviews also revealed the students’ perceptions of SVVR approach in English-speaking training.
