Impact of the Asian Financial Crisis on Education in East Asia: Experience and Implication

东南亚金融危机期间，东亚各国的教育遭受了不同程度的影响，很多国家的入学率下降，辍学率上升，低收入家庭受到较大冲击。而教育系统各层面也针对这次经济危机做出了相应的调整，并收到了良好的效果。因此，面对当前的金融危机，我国教育系统可借凿东亚国家的经验，在短期和长期方面做好准备。

During Asian Financial Crisis， education in East Asia countries has been negatively affected to varying degrees， and lower income group suffered the most. In some countries， enrollment rate fell， and in some other ones， drop-out rate raised. Responding the impact， all levels in the education system took some steps to cope with it. Besides， a series of policies such as scholarship and grant programs have also been carried out by governments in order to alleviate the negative impact on education， which obtained good results. Thus， China should learn the experiences of these countries and prepare well for the economic crisis in the short-run and long-run period.
