The Significance of Macau’s Fifteen-Year Free Education and Its Prospects

澳门回归后，把免费教育从10年扩展到15年，是特区政府的德政。此举意义深远，其三大效益为：一，政府的服务、居民的权利均大大增进一步；二，保证了澳门未来人口的文化素质；三，保证了澳门的可持续发展。但由于匆匆颁行，有两大问题应重视解决：一，留级率高，教育权利难以全民共享；二，官校、私校师生待遇有待看齐，才符合

After Macau’s return to China， its government extended the free education from ten to fifteen years. The benefits it has brought are as follows. Services the government offers and the rights residents get have been vastly improved. Macau’s future population quality has been ensured， and has a sustainable development. Due to the policy’s hasty enforcement， however， two problems emerged. One is that education rights are hard to be shared by all the people because of the high repetition rate. The other is that the treatment of teachers and students in public schools is different from those in private schools. The Third Macao SAR Government is expected to focus on solving these problems.
