顾明远教授文化观的若干辨析

An Analysis of Prof. Gu Mingyuan's Viewpoints on Culture

文化观是顾明远教授比较教育方法论的主要内容，也是顾明远教育思想的重要组成部分。本文旨在对顾明远教授文化观的内涵进行若干辨析，以有助于明确顾明远教授关于文化与教育关系的基本观点。本文认为，顾明远教授的文化观指向教育现代化，与文化保守主义毫无关系；这一文化观强调文化传统的发展性与多样性，超越了僵化刻板的“民族性”概念；这一文化观承认文化的巨大作用，但更强调教育发展的物质基础所具有的决定性，因此不属于传统的文化决定论；这一文化观固然反对西方中心主义，但也与文化民族主义无缘。

Prof. Gu Mingyuan's viewpoints on culture are not only the important contents of his methodology of Comparative Education， but also an major part of his thoughts on modernization of education. This paper argues for Prof. Gus basic conclusions on culture through addressing four questions. 1. Prof. Gu regards cultural tradition as an instrument for modernization of education and this is different from cultural conservatism; 2. Prof. Gu believes changes and diversity in cultural traditions， and therefore his thoughts are beyond 'national character' approach; 3. Prof. Gu is not a cultural determinist because he doesn't think culture is the fundamental force to education; 4. Prof. Gu is against western-centralism， but he is obviously not a cultural nationalist.
