英文摘要 | This longitudinal study investigated Chinese students' identity changes associated with English learning in the first two years of their college life. The participants were 50 English majors in a comprehensive university in China. Analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data showed that upon entering college students had already sensed such identity changes to some degree. In the following two years identity changes deepened with their increased knowledge of and interest in the target language and culture, and a significant increase was found in [subtractive change]. Students' attitudes towards English learning demonstrated some ambivalence and complexity. |
