救国济世”与“独立思想”─从大学演讲管窥中西大学精神之差异

“Building up National Power” and “Independent Thinking”─the Spiritual Differences between Chinese and Western Universities Based on Some Famous Lectures Made at Universities

中西大学精神的内在差异在于，我国大学强调“救国济世”，而西方大学强调阿“独立思想”。本文通过中西大学演进中的一些史料，对这种差异进行了比较分析，意在为我国当前大学精神的培植提供参照。

Chinese universities were established to build up national power， while western universities focus on cultivation of “independent thinking”. This is a remarkable difference between the Chinese and western universities. Based on some reference books about lectures made at universities both in China and west， this paper analyzes the difference and endeavors to offer some useful reference for Chinese universities in cultivating university spirits.
