In 2003， a questionnaire was emailed to the directors of 1459 nursing programs to identify the trends of RN education， and to compare to the results of the pilot study in 1999.The findings validate many of the trends found in the pilot study. Technology will take important role in the future of nursing education. Faculty will need ongoing development to meet the demands of this trend. Further， faculty in the future will be required to employ more active learning strategies to effectively meet the changing expectations in the teaching/learning environment.
