With or Without Cultural Life？

人要不要精神生活，怎样看待精神与物质生活的关系，本文认为，放弃精神生活和把精神生活强调得到了虚幻的地步都是不可取的。过于强调物质生活，甚至将”经济效益”、”为现实服务”作为衡量科学研究和学术活动的唯一标准就会带灾难性后果。我们提倡爱国主义关键在于确立一种信念，树立一种信仰，这些离不开精神力量的支撑，对于一所大学来说，精神力量是不可忽视的。

With or without cultural life？How to deal with the relationship between material and spirit？This paper insists that either giving up cultural life or puffing it to be virtual is recommended. If we attach too much importance on the material， regarding the economic benefits and serving the realistic world as the single standard for the scientific research and academic activities， it will be catastrophic for the human beings. We hold that the faith to and the belief in motherland are the crucial factors for patriotism， and both of which is intangible without the support from spirit. For a university， spirit especially should not be overlooked.
