A Review on the Movement of Contemporary Character Education in the United States and Its Inspiration

品格教育作为当前美国发展最快的教育运动，重新成为美国学校传授道德价值观的主要理论。论文概述了美国当代品格教育的内涵、特征、原则和方法；描述了品格教育运动在各类研究机构的推动下，其理论在学校德育实践中的进一步发展。借鉴美国品格教育运动有益尝试，确认道德教育中的核心价值观，整合各种有效道德教育资源，构建系统化的道德教育模式，加强德育理论和实践的相互联系，应成为我国当前德育改革主要举措。

Contemporary character education became the main theory teaching moral values in the schools of America once again， which was regarded as the most developmental education movement in current America. The paper introduced briefly the definition， characteristics， principles and methods of contemporary character education. The paper described that with the promotion of all kinds of research organizations， the theory of character education was taken development further when it was practiced in schools’ moral education. Finally， the paper pointed out that we could learn some advantages from character education in America to reform Chinese moral education， such as confirming some core value in moral education， integrating all effective resources of moral education， building the systematic model of moral education， strengthening the relationship between theory and practice of moral education.
