An Analysis of the History of American Rural School Consolidation and its Influencing Factors

不同历史时期的政治、经济、社会、人口、教育改革等影响因素的作用下，使美国长达百余年的农村学校合并呈现出明显的阶段性特征。根据合并特点及合并幅度、规模的大小，可将美国百余年的农村学校合并大致划分为五个阶段：1. 1900-1920年，初步展开阶段；2. 1921—1957年，加速阶段；3. 1958-1970年，高潮阶段；4. 1970-1983年，总体停滞阶段；5. 1983-1999年，区域性合并时期。

The political， economical， social， population and educational reform factors in different phases made the American rural school consolidation that last over 100 years show obvious characteristics of the phase. According the characteristics and size， the rural school consolidation in USA which last over 100 years can be divided into five phases：1.1900-1920， the initial starting phase； 2.1921-1957， the speeding up phase； 3.1958-1970 the climax phase； 4.1970-1983 the stagnation in general phase； 5.1983-1999， the regional consolidation phase.
