Research on the Design Process of Art Swimsuit
The style and women’s swimsuit design also tend to diversify with the change of lifestyle. Swimsuit is no longer just about the pursuit of functionality or speed. It can also be a functional product that is both artistic and creative. In addition to the swimming function, it can also express people’s beauty and artistic expression. This study attempts to apply art to swimsuit creation through the “eight basic methods” and “nine principles for deep knowledge” of habitual domain theory. The author sourced ideas and inspiration from an oil painting titled “Red Flower” by Te-Chia Lo (an artist with Asperger syndrome), which features auspicious red flowers and curved lines, as well as taking inspiration from the National Taichung Theater. The fields of art, digital technology, and architectural design were integrated to design a fashionable swimsuit that evoked a sense of modernity. The study results revealed that swimsuit design is a multifaceted, interactive activity that involves the fields of creative thinking, color schemes, pattern design, material application, and style design; the interactions and relations between each field are closely interwoven. To achieve interdisciplinary integration in swimsuit design, designers may adopt the theory of habitual domains, to achieve full creative exchange and development, and the application of knowledge from other disciplines.
