Application on Outcome-Based Modes of Curriculum Construction
With the belief that “every student can achieve success,” outcome-based education emphasizes the competences students can approach after they graduate. In 2009 outcome-based curriculum has been established in terms of: firstly planning competency indicators for direct assessment, secondly adjusting and designing courses as well as planning a supporting measure with the competency indicators, and then implementing learning effect assessment, so as to offer feedbacks to competency indicators and modify measurements for a continuous development. Three universities including Nan Hua University, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Heilongjiang Polytechnic implemented and transformed this mode, and have developed curricula in accordance with university development characteristics respectively. In addition, this mode has been fused into engineering education accreditation of IEET and evaluation in higher education of Higher Education Evaluation & Accreditation Council of Taiwan. This mode has been proved to be a course development mode applicable of all assessments and accreditations ever since it was constructed and applied so far.
