Advancing Teachers’ Toolkit with AI: Linking Data Intelligence with Learning Design Tool
Artificial intelligence is changing the practice of many profession including teaching. It is broadly expected that artificial intelligence would enhance the capacity of teachers by advancing their teaching toolkit. Researchers have realized that the most valuable AI technology for teaching practice is data intelligence， which can support the instructional design decision-making. This paper reports a study that enables data intelligence in an instructional design tool， namely “ learning map”， which has been developed into a visual design tool to support learning design in our team. By linking the data intelligence into “ learning map”， this study upgrades the instructional design tool and thus enhance teachers’ capacity in learning design with data intelligence. In this paper，the design of a learning map was introduced as a teacher，s instructional design tool. For the purpose of data-based support of learning design， the upgrade of the learning design tools by linking learning analytics technologies was introduced. A use case that illustrates how the data intelligence can be used to support learning design was presented. The limitation of the current study and expected further research and development of this tool were also discussed.
