Gender Bias in Textbooks-Hidden in Plain Sight
Textbooks are the main media in student learning，hidden gender bias in textbooks is a key factor that restricting the development of women's education and gender equality in education. Taking Chile，Georgia， Pakistan and Thailand as the case studies，this paper analyzes the backgrounds，current situations and common characteristics of gender bias in textbooks in these countries. It summarizes the progress，obstacles and necessary conditions and measures of the successful reforms in these countries，and it provides useful suggestions and experiences from the perspective of education policy- makers，textbooks makers and teachers for the worldwide gender equality reform in education.
