Analysis of Combined Junior and Senior High School in Japan

Since the combined junior and senior high school education system has achieved its legitimate status in Japan，the government permits and encourages integrated public middle and high school. On the one hand，the combined junior and senior high school education system successfully increases parents' satisfaction， promotes exchanges of teachers and inspires students' personality development. On the other hand，it can make the competition for admission earlier，dampens students' enthusiasmfor learning，creates difficulties in curriculum design and teaching，as well as increases teachers' pressure. However，long- term decrease in number of student， neo- liberalism，local financial pressure and incentive to compete with private schools will continue to impact the determination and action to promote school reform through coordination of government and public schools. As a selective system，the effect of the reform will be likely to influence the secondary education systemin Japan.
