National Quantitative Study on Career Ambitions of Chinese College Students in Science in Higher Education

Higher education in science forms the base of the development of Chinese science and technology. Existing research has found that the absence of interest and inspiration is a key issue for Chinese higher education for sciences. This study focuses on how interest developed and changed from scientific interest to major interest， as well as to career inspiration. Based on a national quantitative survey， the authors analyze differences of interest among varied social and economic groups and factors influencing interests.
