Changes and Challenges of Supply and Demand of Early Childhood Education Resources in the Context of National Two-Child Policy： A Case Study of Beijing

The healthy，active and scientitic development of early childhood education (ECE) depends on rational allocation of resources，which is mainly influenced by the number and distribution of kinder-gartners. Confronted with the significant adjustment of population policy in China，the increment of future preschool-age children will be likely to put more pressure on public services and resource allocation in ECE. The study investigated the number and distribution of kindergartners and the corresponding ECE resource allocation over the past decade in Beijing， estimated the changes regarding supply and demand of relevant resources after the National Two-Child Policy， analyzed the relationship between existing resources and new demands，and explored new population pressure and challenges faced by the allocation of ECE resources. Therefore， according to pre-school age population changes， it is necessary to establish population monitoring system， estimate and adjust the structure， distribution and number of resources， improve the efticiency and quality of educational resources and optimize the allocation of ECE resources so as to respond to the changes of preschool-age population?s needs in the future.
