How the World First-class University Contributes to Regional Economic Development: The Case of Yale University

Yale University has made a great contribution to New Haven's Economic Development. However， Yale University hadn't held a positive attitude towards regional economic development and technology transfer until the middle of the 20th century. In 1993， under the influence of peer pressure and other causes， Yale University recruited Richard Levi as new president and promoted technology transfer by restructuring collaborative research office， reducing the ratio of royalties and enhancing entrepreneurial culture within university. Yale^s transformation exerted positive impact on local economic development， the pharmaceutical industry， and teachers and students. The successful experience of Yale University could provide some references for higher education development in China.
