Marketization of Higher Education: Literature Review and Research Prospects

Marketization is a significant trend in global higher education， and related academic research is also expanding rapidly. After reviewing the literature on higher education marketization at home and abroad， this paper mainly discusses the research status of following aspects: the connotations of higher education marketization， the theoretical background and development tendency of higher education marketization movement， and the controversy over higher education marketization. By summarizing the achievements and limitations of the previous studies， the paper draws the following conclusions in terms of methodology: The knowledge of related issues should be developed in various approaches， and a systematic research framework combining empirical science and normative theory should be established to formalize the research on higher education marketization， which is the key to the breakthrough of related research.
