Chile is the country of Latin America which started to develop higher education earlier， its higher education system falls into the public and private hybrid. In order to ensure the quality of higher education， the Chilean government established institutions voluntary accreditation system in the public and private colleges. The article introduces the background of college accreditation system in Chilean higher education， describes the Chilean higher education accreditation subject， standards， organization and implementation， summarizes accreditation characteristics， effectiveness， problems and development direction in higher education. It provides useful inspiration for promoting China's institutions of higher education accreditation and quality guarantee system con- struction.
