在现代大学这一特殊的社会文化组织中，教授需要治学，也需要治校，主导治学与参与治校是统一的。从大学发展的历史轨迹看，整体趋势是教授参与治校，也主导治学，二者并非非此即彼；从现代大学实际运行看，治学与治校主体通常交叉，绝非某一主体独享某一专有领地；从教授治学与教授治校的内在逻辑看，二者有区别也有联系，并非截然对立。当今中国要切实建立教授主导治学、参与治校的大学治理结构，在理性层面上应着力认识其深刻的内在缘由；在实践层面上应努力探寻其适宜的相应路径。

At modern university， which is a special social and cultural organization， there is a unity between faculty's dominant role in academic affairs and faculty's participation in university governance.
