英文摘要 | After 2012 PISA .results came out, Shanghai ranked the first for the second time, however, its educational system became controversial because of heavy academic burden on students. In fact, in most Asian countries, such as Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia and China, including China Taiwan and Hong Kong, private tutoring has existed for quite a long time, and deeply rooted in the culture. Private tutoring mainly imitates the mainstream education system, and change with it as shadow, thus it is also known as ”shadow education’,. Private supplementa可tutoring only exists because the mainstream education exists; as the size and shape of the mainstream system change, so do the size and shape of supplementa可tutoring﹔ in almost all societies much more public attention focuses on the mainstream than on its shadow; and the features of the shadow system are much less distinct than those of the mainstream system. This article is focused on several aspects of private tutoring, such its development sta仙s and government regulation. As to these problems, we interview Professor Mark Bray, the Chair Professor of Comparative Education in the Comparative Education Research Centre (CERC) 的the University of Hong Kong. |
