英文摘要 | The multi-dimensional global university ranking (U-Multirank),developed by the European Commission, is a new global transparency tool for higher education and research that addresses most of the major shortcomings of existing ranking instruments while incorporating their good practices. U-Multirank formulated five design principles (user-drivenness, multi-dimensionality,comparability of institutions,multi-level nature of higher education,methodological soundness),developed five performance dimensions (teaching and learning,research,knowledge transfer,international orientation 9 and regional engagement) and a range of indicators^ provided its users with online functionality to create two general types of rankings (institutional rankings and field-based rankings). The pilot test and the first implementation experiences demonstrated that,in terms of the feasibility of the dimensions and indicators,the institutional interest in participating,and the operational feasibility of up-scaling, U-Multirank is successful and is ready to be implemented in global higher education and research. |
