The Relation of Family Resources and Life Satisfaction between Middle-Aged and Elder Adults: The Analysis of Cohort Differences

本研究旨在瞭解不同世代的中高齡者家庭資源與生活滿意度之關係，採用2007年「臺灣地區中老年身心社會生活狀況長期追蹤調查問卷」進行次級資料庫分析，以年滿54歲以上，設籍於臺灣地區331個平地鄉鎮之老人為研究對象，有效樣本共計3,651位。研究發現：一、不同世代中高齡者擁有的家庭資源屬中等程度；二、嬰兒潮世代的生活滿意度高於傳統世代；三、整體嬰兒潮世代在自評健康狀況及教育程度較高，但是在自評經濟狀況、網絡支持方面，卻是傳統世代較高；四、在情感支持方面，傳統世代之男性、嬰兒潮世代之無偶者較低；五、兩個世代的網絡支持皆偏低；六、在生活滿意度方面，傳統世代的女性、有偶者較低；七、不同世代中高齡者家庭資源與生活滿意度呈現正相關。本研究結果可以提供我國設計高齡教育或退休準備教育方案之參考。

This study aims to explore the relationship between middle-aged and the elders family resources and life satisfaction. We conduct this research based on the secondary data of “2007 Survey of Health and Living Status of the middle-aged and elder adults in Taiwan survey report”. 3,651 Taiwanese residents who are 54 or older across 331 towns and villages were selected. The findings are as followings: (1) Both the traditional generation and baby boomers possess a medium level of family resource. (2) Baby boomers have a higher life satisfaction than the generation of traditionalists. (3) Comparing to the traditionalist, baby boomers have higher levels of self-rated health conditions and education than traditionalist; however, traditionalists have higher levels of self-rated financial conditions and networking conditions. (4) Males of the traditional generation and the baby boomers without spouse have lower emotional support. (5) Baby boomers and traditionalists both have a lower network support. (6) Females and with a spouse among the traditional generation have a lower life satisfaction. (7) The elderly groups family resources represent a positive relation with life satisfactions.
