论自觉的大学

On Conscious Universities

自觉本是主体的人的特有属性,但大学里主要是人的活动,这一类人的活动的自觉便构成了“自觉的大学”。大学自我的失位与迷失,大学独立性的沦丧,大学个性的缺失,呼唤大学“自觉”之精神。“自觉的大学”的形成在于政府实行宏观的控制和适度放权,让大学自身积极有限地实行自主管理;各大学能清晰地明确自己的角色定位,培养文化的自觉和实现组织的自觉;大学内的领导者应该自觉遵循高等教育的发展规律,办出有特色的大学;大学内的知识分子应有“自觉”之精神,守护良知,恪守人格独立,做到学术自治。

Consciousness is a unique attribute of subjectivity.The consciousness of human activities on university campuses constitutes“conscious universities”.The spirit of consciousness is called for, with the current university dislocation,loss of self and independence,and lack of individualism.The development of conscious universities depends upon four factors:(1)the government’s macro governance and moderate decentralization so that universities can actively implement self-management to the extent appropriate;(2)universities clearly defining their roles and developing cultural consciousness and organizational consciousness;(3)university leaders consciously conforming to laws of higher education and building universities with unique characteristics;and(4)university intellectuals cultivating the spirit of consciousness,guarding their conscience,and achieving independent personality as well as academic autonomy.
