Reflection on “Cooperative Learning” in college English Classrooms—A review of A Short Course on Designing Cooperative Learning for the EFL Classroom
With an increasing number of college students in China, the size of English classes has become "huge", which therefore sets barriers for English teachers to conduct effective classroom teaching. In this vein, the students' learning outcomes are negatively affected. A Short Course on Designing Cooperative Learning for the EFL Classroom has provided college English teachers with the opportunity to cooperate in groups and reflect on the issues and difficulties they encounter in teaching. Through intensive group discussion and cooperation, teachers are able to broaden their perspectives, acquire a variety of advanced teaching skills, and identify strategies to manage large classes. This paper mainly focuses on the following aspects: a review of the thought-provoking content of the short course, and the author's reflection and gains from the course.
